HOUSTON – Several members of Signa Engineering’s management force were among nearly 600 shooters at the record-breaking ConocoPhillips Annual Sporting Clays Tournament held recently in Houston, Texas.
The annual event, which is in its sixth year, is the largest single-event fundraiser for Special Olympics in Texas and one of the largest sporting clays tournaments in the region, promoters said. It was held at American Shooting Centers, and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Texas.

Although Signa Engineering did not take home any trophies, the tournament set a few records this year, including most participants (563 men, women and youths) and revenue gained ($157,000). The funds support the year-round training of the 4,200-plus Special Olympians in the Greater Houston area.
Cole Storey won the high score for the day, with 83 points, while Rick Miller and Brent Balcer tied for second with 82. For a complete list of scoring results, see the tournament results at the Texas Special Olympics website.
This marks the third year that Signa Engineering has been one of the sponsors of ConocoPhillips’ annual sporting clays event. “We feel that the Special Olympics of Texas is a very charitable organization to support, especially since approximately 90 percent of the proceeds goes directly to the Special Olympics organization,” said Dave Roseland, Senior Vice-President of Signa Engineering. “Plus, everyone has a lot of fun participating in the shoot.”
Special Olympics Texas is a privately funded non-profit organization that provides year-round training and competition to more than 23,885 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Lone Star State.
