    Signa’s primary focus is the evaluation, design and execution of drilling and completion operations, both onshore and offshore, domestic and international, for projects involving vertical, directional, horizontal and multilateral wells. Our engineering staff excels in unconventional applications such as Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), UnderBalanced Operations (UBO), Casing Drilling and Pressurized MudCap Drilling (PMCD).

    Signa also provides workover, production and reservoir services, and economic/feasibility studies for all upstream petroleum applications. Signa has engineered some of the world’s most technically challenging drilling applications, including MudCap Drilling in the sour-gas, cavernous formations of Kazakhstan and South America; Managed Pressure Drilling design and execution for deepwater Gulf of Mexico; and UnderBalanced Drilling in the rugged chalk of South Texas.

    Since Signa does not offer tools, rigs, equipment or other materials, our decisions are not affected by personal or company affiliations. Signa ’s principals and engineering staff follow a strict set of ethical guidelines, and keep the client’s best interests in the forefront at all times. Signa is a registered professional engineering firm in the State of Texas, and most staff engineers are licensed by the state, as well.

    Signa began as a professional petroleum engineering consulting firm in 1992 and has grown to a full-service upstream technology company. The history of leading-edge technology speaks for itself:

    Signa was there when the Austin Chalk was found to be the first truly viable horizontal play in the world.

    When the revolutionary idea of flow drilling was developed in the Pearsall Field, Signa's founder Rick Stone was among those developing the technique.

    When drilling multiple laterals was taken from dream to reality, Signa engineers were among the early adopters.

    Signa spearheaded the first large-scale dendritic stimulation performed horizontally, and recently pioneered leading-edge Managed Pressure Casing Drilling (MPCD) applications in South Texas.
