Jim Hansen joins Signa Engineering as senior operations manager!

HOUSTON – Signa Engineering Corp., As a result of a recent merger, James B. “Jim” Hansen was named as the senior operations manager for Signa Engineering Corp., a leading-edge petroleum engineering company in Houston, Texas. With 35 years experience as an oil and gas operations specialist, Hansen is known in the industry for consistently completing projects below cost by using innovative design and management techniques.

Since 1993, Hansen has served as the owner and president of Hansen Consulting in Montgomery, Texas. He founded the petroleum-consulting firm in Lafayette, Louisiana, to respond to the industry trend toward outsourcing certain technical and supervisory functions. He personally designed, bid and managed drilling operations for highly deviated wells in South Louisiana and Texas before moving the company to Conroe in 1996.

Hansen has extensive experience in the Pinnacle Reef trend of East Texas and still holds the record for drilling time for a Reef well in Leon County, Texas. Hansen also drilled the only horizontally drilled well in the Pinnacle Reef.

In earlier years, Hansen climbed the ranks at Delta Drilling Company, serving as a drilling engineer and superintendent before obtaining the position of division manager. He managed the Gulf Coast Drilling Division, which operated 16 land contract-drilling rigs in South Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, where depth capability of the rigs exceeded 25,000’.

Previous to Delta, Hansen worked for Hughes Tool Company and Timeco, Inc. He attended college at Universidad Internacional, Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico and at Hanover College in Indiana.
